July 22, 2026
We are pleased to introduce the woltman flanged water meter as the latest addition to our growing range of flow measurement solutions. Designed specifically for high-volume water applications, this meter combines reliable accuracy, rugged construction, and flexible integration options—making it a practical choice for municipal, industrial, and agricultural installations.
The woltman meter operates on a well-proven turbine principle. Water flowing through the meter drives a helical or propeller-shaped rotor, with rotation speed directly proportional to flow velocity. This mechanical motion is converted into a clear volume reading via a mechanical register or electronic sensor. The design ensures strong sensitivity at low flow rates while maintaining accuracy under peak load conditions.
The meter is manufactured from high-grade materials to ensure long-term reliability. Meter bodies are available in cast iron, ductile iron, or bronze, providing excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. Internal components—including bearings and shafts—are fabricated from stainless steel or tungsten carbide to minimise wear and extend service life, even in water containing sand or sediment.
The flanged design allows for straightforward mounting between standard pipe flanges, delivering a secure and leak-tight connection. This configuration simplifies both new installations and retrofits in existing pipelines, reducing site work and ensuring a stable, low-maintenance setup.
Our woltman meters meet or exceed ISO 4064 standards, typically achieving Class B or Class C accuracy. The meters cover flow ranges from approximately 10 m³/h up to several thousand m³/h, depending on size. Moderate pressure loss makes them suitable for gravity-fed systems and installations where energy efficiency is a consideration.
For optimal performance, a straight pipe section is recommended—typically five diameters upstream and two to three diameters downstream—to allow turbulent flow to settle and prevent swirling that could affect measurement accuracy. Flanged connections are straightforward, though proper gasket alignment is essential to avoid flow profile disturbance.
Routine inspection is recommended every one to three years, depending on water quality and operating conditions. Many modern woltman meters feature replaceable register assemblies and rotor cartridges, enabling maintenance without removing the meter body from the pipeline. This design reduces downtime and lowers long-term servicing costs.
Electronic registers with remote reading and data logging capabilities are available. Communication options include pulse outputs for SCADA systems, Modbus/RS485 for building management networks, and cellular or LoRa for wireless monitoring. These features enable real-time consumption tracking, leak detection, and streamlined billing—adding operational value beyond basic measurement.
All woltman flanged water meters are manufactured in accordance with internationally recognised standards, including ISO 4064, OIML R49, and AWWA C703. Meters intended for billing applications in the EU are compliant with the MID (Measuring Instruments Directive).
The meters are suited to a broad range of high-volume water installations, including municipal distribution networks, industrial water supply, agricultural irrigation, fire protection mains, and cooling water circuits in power generation.
The woltman flanged water meter adds a reliable, high-capacity measurement option to our product portfolio. Its turbine-based mechanism, durable construction, and integration-friendly design make it a valuable solution for customers who require accurate, long-term flow measurement in large-diameter water systems. With flexible configuration options and complete adherence to standards, it enables effective water management across various sectors. For further details, please reach out to our sales team.
