June 25, 2026
Have you ever noticed that some valves leak more the tighter you close them? It's a common issue with butterfly valves — as the disc approaches the closed position, the seal and seat create significant friction. This not only accelerates seal wear, but can also cause the disc to jam or fail to close completely. The MIDAS double flanged eccentric butterfly valve solves this problem. The "eccentric" is not a gimmick. It's a thoughtful redesign of the sealing principle itself.
The core of this valve lies in two offsets between the valve stem axis and the disc centerline. The result: during opening and closing, the disc sealing surface and the seat experience virtually no sliding friction. Only at the exact moment of full closure does the seal engage with the seat.
What does this mean for you? Seal life is significantly extended — no more repeated squeezing and scraping. Operating torque is lower, so you can choose a smaller, more cost-effective actuator. Most importantly, sealing force increases with medium pressure — the higher the pressure, the tighter the shutoff.
This feature is especially valuable in applications where reliable isolation is critical.
The most common fear on any construction site is "it doesn't fit." Misaligned flange faces, a few millimeters of pipe gap deviation — and suddenly you're cutting and re-welding on site. The MIDAS double flanged design connects directly to pipeline flanges, eliminating the space constraints of wafer-type installations. With its short face-to-face length, installation in tight spaces becomes straightforward.
Precision-machined flange faces, flat sealing surfaces, and accurate bolt hole alignment mean workers can align and bolt without constant adjustments. Time saved is efficiency. Hassle avoided is cost saved.
Bidirectional sealing: Standard configuration handles pressure differentials from either direction. Even if downstream pressure exceeds upstream, sealing remains effective.
Corrosion-resistant materials: Body available in ductile iron (GGG40) or stainless steel (CF8/CF8M). Disc and seat overlay welded with stainless steel or Stellite — suitable for water, wastewater, oils, and mildly corrosive media.
Broad temperature adaptability: Optional seals in EPDM, NBR, PTFE, or metal seating cover temperatures from -20°C to +200°C.
Flexible actuation: Manual lever, worm gear, pneumatic, or electric actuators are all compatible. Manual control when needed, remote control when required.
After all these years in the valve business, MIDAS has learned one thing: a valve's price stops mattering the moment it's installed. What truly matters is whether it opens and closes without failure for the next decade — whether it keeps every drop where it belongs.
The mission of the MIDAS double flanged eccentric butterfly valve is simple: to retain trust through reliability, rather than winning by low prices. If quality matters to you, we're always here to talk.
