Spiral Steel Pipe

Introduction:

Spiral steel pipe is a kind of welded steel pipe by spiraling the steel strip or coil under the normal temperature through automatic double wire double-sided submerged arc welding process. It is also called SSAW pipes. Spiral welded pipe is characterized by uniform deformation, small residual stress, no surface scratches during the molding process. The SSAW pipes are mainly used for conveying oil and natural gas pipeline, can also be used for civil engineering structures pipes for docks, bridges and other basic pile.

Spiral Steel Pipe


Forming: A wide strip of steel is first uncoiled from a coil. Then, through a series of bending and shaping processes, the steel strip is gradually formed into a spiral shape. During this process, the edges of the steel strip are continuously welded together to form a continuous spiral seam.


Welding: There are two main welding methods, submerged arc welding and high frequency welding. Submerged arc welding uses a granular flux to cover the welding area, creating a protective atmosphere that helps produce high quality welds with good strength and durability. High frequency welding, on the other hand, utilizes high frequency current to heat and fuse the edges of the steel strip, offering high welding speed and efficiency.


Finishing: After welding, the spiral steel pipe undergoes various finishing processes, including cutting to the required length, surface treatment to remove impurities and rust, and sometimes coating or painting to enhance corrosion resistance.


High Strength and Rigidity: Due to the spiral welding structure and the use of high quality steel materials, spiral steel pipes have excellent strength and rigidity. They can withstand large external pressures and mechanical loads without significant deformation or damage.


Large Diameter and Long Length: Spiral steel pipes can be manufactured in large diameters, usually ranging from tens of centimeters to several meters. They can also be produced in long lengths, which helps to reduce the number of joints in pipeline construction and improve the overall efficiency and reliability of the pipeline system.


Water Conservancy and Irrigation Projects: In large scale water conservancy projects, such as water diversion projects and irrigation systems, spiral steel pipes are widely used to transport water over long distances. Their large diameter and good pressure resistance can meet the needs of high volume water transportation.


Oil and Gas Transportation: Spiral steel pipes are an important choice for oil and gas pipelines. They can be used to transport crude oil, natural gas, and refined oil products from oil fields and gas fields to processing plants and distribution centers.
