A BS750 cast iron ground fire hydrant is a vital fire-fighting device designed and manufactured in accordance with the BS 750 standard. The following is an introduction to it:
Standards: BS 750 is a British standard that specifies requirements for underground fire hydrants and surface box frames and covers. The latest version is BS 750:2023.
Materials: The body of the fire hydrant is made of cast iron, which provides good strength and durability. Some parts like the outlet connection head are made of copper alloy to improve wear resistance.
Valve Structure: It usually adopts a wedge gate valve or a screwed valve. For example, some are of the hidden stem stop type structure, which allows the replacement of the middle chamber O-ring seal under the closed condition.
Outlet: Usually has a copper outlet. The internal diameter is generally 64 mm, and the thread type is V thread, with 5 1/3 threads per 25.4 mm.
Working Pressure: The working pressure is 16 bar and the sealing test pressure is 24 bar.
Inlet and Outlet Specifications: The inlet is a 4" flange in accordance with BS4504 (100 mm), and the outlet is 2 × 2.5" male instantaneous coupling in accordance with BS336 (65 mm).
Good Corrosion Resistance: The cast iron body, together with anti-corrosion treatments such as painting or epoxy resin spraying, enables the fire hydrant to resist corrosion from the outdoor environment, suitable for long-term use in buried conditions.
