The U-type butterfly valve with flange connection adopts a centerline structure. It features a compact design, small size, light weight, and consists of only a few components, making it easy to install and maintain. The valve can be opened or closed quickly by rotating 90°, providing simple and efficient operation along with excellent flow control performance.
The disc of the butterfly valve is installed in the diameter direction of the pipeline and rotates within the cylindrical passage of the valve body. The rotation angle ranges from 0° to 90°, with the valve fully open at 90°. This structural advantage makes U-type butterfly valves particularly suitable for large-diameter valve designs.
Compared with other valve types, butterfly valves are lightweight, compact, and cost-effective for large diameter pipelines.U type butterfly valves are widely used in water supply systems, wastewater treatment plants, irrigation networks, and industrial pipelines.
Typically made of ductile iron (DI), the valve offers excellent mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. The centerline structure design minimizes resistance during fluid flow. When fully opened, the only obstruction is the thickness of the disc, resulting in a minimal pressure drop and superior flow regulation characteristics.
The U-shaped body provides high structural strength and stability.
Rubber seats such as EPDM or NBR ensure reliable sealing and prevent leakage.
Butterfly valves are lighter and more compact than gate or globe valves.
The valve can be easily installed between pipeline flanges.
Simple structure reduces maintenance requirements and improves durability.

The U-type butterfly valve is available with two main types of sealing:
Elastic Seal: The sealing ring can be embedded in the valve body or attached to the edge of the disc. It is ideal for low- to medium-temperature conditions and provides reliable sealing.
Metal Seal: More suitable for high-temperature applications, with longer service life, although achieving a perfect seal can be more challenging.
Selecting the correct valve size and type is essential for effective flow control.
U-type flange butterfly valves are widely used in general industries such as petroleum, natural gas, chemical processing, and water treatment, as well as in cooling water systems of thermal power plants. Their excellent pressure resistance, corrosion resistance, and quick operation make them highly suitable for various industrial applications.
Water Supply Systems:Municipal water distribution pipelines.
Wastewater Treatment:Sewage and drainage systems.
Irrigation Systems:Agricultural water management.
Industrial Pipelines:Chemical plants and industrial fluid control.
Power Plants:Cooling water and process pipelines.
The commonly used installation methods include:
Wafer Type Butterfly Valve: Installed between two pipe flanges using double-head bolts.
Flanged Type Butterfly Valve: Comes with flanges on the valve body, which are bolted directly to the pipeline flanges for a secure installation.
